Mission

To support parents from the fourth trimester onward with 30 min Pilates based body maintenance sessions. Help parents maintain and gain physical resilience while navigating the first phase of parenthood.

How it works

Parents may begin as early as 4 weeks postpartum and the birth parent needs dr’s clearance. Each parent meets with me online, twice a week for thirty minutes.

Intake: ongoing conversation on current body needs and goals

Abdominal Connection: connect mind to body to feel what muscles are working and apply this muscular work to abdominal exercises

Abdominal connection + movement: integrating abdominals with all exercises and then apply to daily movement (eg picking up baby, twisting, bike riding)

Upper back- back extension: reduce neck strain, reduce shoulder tightness, improve posture and mobility

Side leg series, glut strengthening: support strong core, glute and hip strength helps to to prevent back injury and hip/knee injuries

Baby sabotaged your fitness plans for the day?
Should you need to cancel a session, I will make and send a video of exercises.

My Pilates based workouts will help you strengthen and stretch the muscles needed to reduce injuries from all the new ways you’ll be moving around to care for baby. The workouts will help the birth parent recover from labor and delivery and help both parents stay sane-ish during the first phase of ‘bringing home baby’.

Story behind the program

Bringing home a newborn is breathtaking, overwhelming and exhausting. I discounted it at the time, but while baby was comfortable, I would do breath work, pre-Pilates abdominal exercises and bridges.  These ‘maintenance’ exercises helped me avoid a slipped disc and kept me on a forward trajectory.

I have been in the fitness industry as a Pilates instructor since 2009 and I need classes and appointments with other trainers to ensure I follow through with self-care. Otherwise I let baby, household chores and work take up all of my time. I wish I had had a coach that would have guided me through mini workouts. Thirty minutes of movement with someone else thinking for me would have been a godsend AND usually I can put 30 minutes aside between diaper changes, feedings and mini mental breakdowns.  Furthermore it is extraordinarily rewarding to start and finish a task in early parenthood -- especially when it is for your physical & mental wellbeing.
